I think it's fun to have an inventory of equipment to choose from in order to solve puzzles or defeat foes or overcome obstacles. If we do choose to have an inventory, I think we should keep it very simple, kind of like a Zelda game. I see our game as fitting into the adventure genre. Not action adventure. I mean adventure with some action. But we focus more on the adventure than the action. So if we are able to find and keep certain items, those items should be mostly a means to further the adventure, rather than an upgrade to our characters stats. Those items should add something significant to the game play options. For example, in Zelda, you start off with a sword. That's great and all, but that's just another hack and slash game. Then you find a boomerang. Now you can stun your enemies and hack away at them as they are powerless to attack. You can also use your boomerang to kill those annoying bats or grab items in hard to reach places. The game play is greatly enhanced by the introduction of one small item you found in a dungeon. I'm interested to hear what the rest of you think of the idea of having an inventory and how vast you feel that inventory should be. Should it be limited to the point where you have to make hard decisions as to what to keep in it? Should it be just big enough to hold all the items you will find in your quest? What say you?
